Skincare stash decrease project – update 3

Hello everybody!

Here is the third update of my skincare stash decrease project. I’m happy to see that my stash is getting smaller, but there is still a very long road ahead.

When I got the idea about this no-buy regime for 2020, I have already predicted in advance that I would probably “cheat” in April, since my birthday is in April. Also, I usually travel to USA in March or April for a business purposes and this travel usually gives me the opportunity to buy some things I cannot get my hands on easily in Europe. April is finished and I celebrated my birthday in a kind of a lockdown, my business travel to USA was cancelled due to the spread of the Covid-19. However, I did treat myself with few things, mostly makeup and body care and only few skincare items (everything is listed down below).

And here are my April empties.

Eve Lom cleansing balm – this small jar was dragging around my bathroom for quite a while. It is nice balm if used exactly as described on a packaging (cleansing cloth, hot water, cold water), basically it is a cleansing ritual and it is effective. However, if you do not have time and you use it like a regular cleansing balm (massaging, emulsifying with water and washing off), it isn’t that nice. It is thick, greasy and it smells terribly. It leaves a greasy residue and I feel like, despite that greasiness, it dries my skin. I will not repurchase it.

Heimish All clean balm – this small jar will find its spot in 2 of my posts: in the one about what I opened in April, but also in my Empties /update about Skincare stash decrease project. This jar was sufficient for only a week, but it was enough for me to conclude that it wasn’t as bad as I thought back then when I tried it for the first time at the very beginning of my Kbeauty adventure. It is a nice cleansing balm which melts nicely and removes well all the dirt from your face and your spf and makeup. It emulsifies well when you add the water and is easily washed off. I could think of purchasing it from time to time as a replacement for my favorite cleansing balm (Farmacy Green clean).

Oneoseven Low ph chaga cleanser – I really love this 2nd cleanser. It is a gel cleanser, very gentle and yet very effective in removing the remaining dirt or grime or traces of the first cleanser. When you add the water to it, it gives a nice emulsion and it doesn’t foam much. The only thing I didn’t like about this cleanser is a weird smell that probably comes from chaga mushroom (I guess), but it is not clingy and it disappears very quickly. Together with Krave Beauty Matcha hemp cleanser, this is by far my favourite second cleanser when talking about Kbeauty cleansers. I have a stash of second cleansers that I need to empty, but I will repurchase this one for sure.

I’m from Honey mask – After reading so many raving reviews, I had really high hopes for this mask. However, I am not that into it after emptying this jar. I cannot claim however that it is a bad product, but it is not a splendid one either. I struggle in the beginning to find a perfect way to wash it off without rubbing my face too harshly and I found that the best way it washes off is if you add small amount of water to emulsify it and then wash it off. It is a nourishing mask, its consistency and the fact that is made mostly of honey, insures that you can keep it for quite a while on your face. However I didn’t see so much difference or additional benefits if I keep it longer on my face. For me, besides a certain feeling of nourishment which is not a long-term one, I didn’t notice any additional glow or suppleness. Many people enjoy masking with this honey mask, but I’m not one of them.

I’m from Magnolia sleeping pack – The wake essence from I’m from Magnolia line was such a hit from me, so I expected the same from sleeping pack and I was very excited when I managed to get it on Ebay. It is a nice lightweight sleeping pack with jelly texture, which is easily spread and absorbed. It provides a nice hydration and a whim of moisture, it is soothing and in the morning, the skin feels so plump, fresh and hydrated. I didn’t try to cool it in the fridge, but I think it could work wonders if used like that during summer. However, I’m really sad that this product is discontinued (this is the 2nd sleeping pack which I really loved that was discontinued. The first one was my HG from Manyo Factory). I would repurchase it if it was available.

Blithe Tundra Chaga pressed serum – This product is the pure example of why I love Kbeauty. The textures, the products, the ideas they come up with, cannot be found anywhere else in beauty industry. Pressed serum!! I started to use this serum/moisturizer some time last year and I really loved its weird pudding texture that glides nicely and melts into the skin. However, at that time, I had a really elaborate and long routine, so this product and its benefits couldn’t stand out and I put it aside and used it from time to time. When I reintroduced it to my routine end of February, I used in my 4 steps routine which I have now and this multi-tasker blew my mind completely. I used it as last step of my night routine. It plumps the skin, nourishes it, makes it bouncy and the skin looks and feels firmer definitely. I love this and will repurchase for sure!!

Alpha-H daily moisturizer spf50 – this was dragging in my drawers for quite a long time. I decided to put it on trial now during quarantine. It is not thick, glides nicely on the skin, doesn’t have any white cast but it leaves a thin film on the skin and gives it a bit of glow. On the days I put a richer routine under it, it tend to pill a bit. Honestly, I do not think that it could work well with my BB cream or makeup. I will not repurchase this sunscreen.

Dr.Jart+ Every Sun Mild Sun – This one went quickly from Products I opened to Empties since it is a 5ml tube and it lasted only for 4 days. The first impression wasn’t satisfying because of white cast and the fact it made my skin feel dry. However, after I started adding a thin layer of moisturizer, the experience with this physical sunscreen got better and I’m even thinking of buying the full size product.

Laneige Cica sleeping mask – If you maybe read my Empties posts, you could have already seen this sleeping mask. Almost all sleeping masks I tried so far had a jelly texture. This one is more like a moisturizer and I often used it in place of the moisturizer and as the only occlusive in my routine. It is really calming, nourishing and it locks nicely my night routine. I liked it and I will for sure buy the full size product.

Thanks to my 7-days sheet mask challenge, I emptied 9 sheet masks. It is still not as much as I planned.

In April, I emptied: 3 cleansers /  1 serum / 2 moisturizers / 1 wash off mask / 2 sleeping masks

April total: 8 empties + 9 sheet masks

Yearly total : 28 empties + 17 sheet masks

As mentioned above, besides emptying the skincare products, I purchased some items, but also got few as my birthday gift.

I got: Allies of the Skin Molecular silk amino hydrating cleanser, Dr Jart Vital hydra solution essence 50ml, Garden of Wisdom niacinamide serum (5%), Ducray Melascreen creme legere spf50, Cerave moisturizing lotion, Purito Centella green level unscented spf50, Caudalie Vinoperfect crème éclat anti-tâches 15 ml, Algenist Alive prebiotic balancing mask 10 ml

I gifted 2 moisturizers (Eyenlip 24k gold & peptides cream and Jiggot whitening cream) and 1 sunscreen (Some by Mi Truecica mineral sunscreen).

So, at the end of April 2020, this is current status of my skincare stash:

  • 15 cleansers
  • 20 toners and mists
  • 20 acid & active treatments
  • 14 essences
  • 14 serums / ampoules
  • 4 emulsions
  • 22 moisturizers and sunscreens
  • 5 sleeping packs
  • 11 facial oils
  • 20 masks
  • 5 eye creams and eye masks
  • 102 sheet masks

Till next time stay healthy and beautiful!

My 2020 skincare stash (decrease) project

It has been clear to me for a while now that my hectic shopping sprees have to stop,  so I decided to stop buying skincare and makeup in 2020 (with some exceptions like cotton pads, makeup removers and similar items that cannot be found in my stash and that I need). 2019 was the year during which I spent significant amount of money on skincare, mostly Kbeauty, which is now everywhere in my house and you cannot put the needle in my skincare stash box. And trust me, it is not a small box, actually it is not a box, there are few boxes.

While in 2019, I was buying like crazy and I was exploring products, ingredients, in 2020, I will be emptying products and decreasing my humangous stash.

I’m a skincare addict, but most of all, I’m Kbeauty addict. Once you discover this fantastic world, there is no coming back. In this Kbeauty wonderland, you can find the variety of brands, products, textures, ingredients, packaging, colors like nowhere else and it keeps on growing every day and inviting you to keep exploring it. This no-buy will be a huge challenge for me, but if I succeeded to stop smoking, why would it be difficult for me to stop shopping. Right?

In order for you to understand how big this challenge is and why I have to stop hoarding skincare products, I will take you through my complete skincare stash. At the same time, this will be my inventory post. And, as you will see, I have quite a lot of both opened and unopened products.

I will post once a month Empties post and will do the inventory of skincare products to keep the record of the progress.

So, without further ado, meet my Precious 🤩

My favourite sheet masks

Hello everybody!

I hope you’re all well.

In my last post, I wrote a little bit about my experience with sheet masks, how I keep track of what I have and what I tried so far.

Today I would like to share with you my top 5 sheet masks. I really tried a lot of sheet masks, for different purposes, made of variuos materials and made for various budgets. As you will see, I have on my list both cheap ones and more expensive ones. The order is random, because I honestly cannot choose which one of those 5 I like the best!! I love them all and buy them all the time.

Illi Total aging Ginseng firming hydrogel mask

Oh how I like this one! I still remember the first time I opened this sheet mask! The smell was absolutely divine. Till today I do not know if this scent is how ginseng is supposed to smell, but it’s divine as I said. It’s hydrogel two-piece mask which is rather easy to handle. The openings for eyes and mouth fit me perfectly. However, this mask has some strange cut on chin, or basicaly the chin stays uncovered no matter how you place it on. Otherwise it fits perfectly. Since this is a hydrogel sheet mask, there is no leaking of liquid, but at the same time you can keep the mask for a longer time without fearing that it will dry the skin (which can sometimes happen with cotton sheet masks if you keep them too long). The skin feels great upon removing this sheet mask. It’s really hydrating, but yet it leaves the skin firm and tight, but in a good way. I spent already a pack of 5 pcs and few days ago I received new ones. I will keep on buying it as long as it will be on the market.

Papa Recipe Bombee Whitening Honey

The picture is not mine; it was taken from the internet.

Every time I think about this mask, it makes me smile. First, I just love the smell of this mask!! When you put it on your face, it smells like heaven. And this was huge surprise for me, since I do not like honey or anything related to honey. But when it comes to cosmetics, my skin adores both honey and propolis. The fit of this mask is good. It is well soaked, but it doesn’t leak. I always use the remaining liquid to treat my body also and not only my face. The material is thin, comfortable. The skin is amazing after you remove the mask: well hydrated, plump, soft, balanced and with evened color and texture. I already used a pack of 10 pcs. New ones came in few days ago.

My Scheming Mandelic acid Brightening

The picture is not mine; it was taken from the internet.

This is very cheap, yet extremely effective sheet mask which delivers exactly what its name says: brightening.  When it comes to the products which have the word brightening in the name, I’m always wondering if they do anything. This notion brightening can be pretty confusing. But in case of the sheet mask, it’s pretty clear what it means and what it does. Upon removing the mask, the before and after is really different and visible. The skin is so much brighter and skin tone is even from forehead to chin.  It makes the skin so soft and perfectly smooth. And what’s even better, the result is also visible the morning after!! The material is very soft, almost completely transparent, feels great on the skin. Of course, I will repurchase!

Hanyul Pure Artemisia fresh calming

Hanyul is the brand that I am discovering recently. I have the cleansing oil from this same line and it is perfect. I can tell the same for this sheet mask. It is really well soaked and still it is not leaking. There was not a lot of essence remaining in the package. The mask itself is rather big, especially on the chin (it covers whole chin, while some others bearly cover it). This sheet mask feels great on the skin, calms it, I would say that it even has some kind of cooling effect. It evens the complexion in a very nice way.

Lovemore Mung beans and licorice

The picture is not mine; it was taken from the internet

When I first put this sheet masks, I was kind of disappointed with its shape. It was huge, the biggest sheet mask I’ve ever used. The openings were not well cut, the ones for eyes were too close and the one for the mouth was too small. However, the issues with the shape were forgotten fast since the effect is just amazing. It is very hydrating, moisturizing, it perfectly softens the skin. The skin is looking kind of brighter, I noticed both whitening and brightening effect. And what’s even more amazing, the effect was visible the morning after too!! Excellent and very cheap mask. What do you think if I have it in my stash? 😁

And here are also some honorable mentions:

Aprilskin honey and red ginseng

Erborian ginseng shot

Polatam Hydro radiance

Cremorlab Herb tea pure calming

My Beauty Diary Kenting Algae Elastin moisturizing

Goodal waterest moisture HA

Do you like sheet masks? What are your favourites?

Till next post, stay healthy and beautiful!

Sheet masks: do you enjoy using or it’s annoying you?

Hello everybody!

It’s been a while now since I wrote something.

Today I thought of sharing with you my thoughts (😁)  about the sheet masks. One of the first things I bought when I started exploring the Kbeauty was a sheet mask. Of course that buying one of the staple products of Asian cosmetics was the logic choice. I have to admit that the first sheet masks I bought were a complete miss. I bought 2 types of Tonymoly I’m real (tomato and aloe versions) and they did pretty nothing to my skin, except that the one with tomato made my face red (logically). I think I still have 1 or even 2 of these in my sheet mask stash.

Since that time, I bought and tried a lot of sheet masks and I really enjoy exploring and using them. During the summer, I spend lot of time outside under the harsh sun due to my job requirements, so sometimes my skin gets burned and it is irritated and red. And in these situations, my skin is always saved by sheet masks. I talked to lot of girls about the use of sheet masks and I found that lot of them thought the sheet mask were annoying!! Some of them do not like that moist feeling on the skin, some of them do not feel confortable wearing sheet masks and think they are suffocating and some of them do not simply have enough patience to keep the sheet mask for 20-30 minutes.

My feelings are quite opposite!! I simply adore sheet masks and I think that they are one of the best parts of asian beauty routine (together with toners/skins). And the variety of types which is given, offers a solution for any skin concern and for any budget.

For the moment, I have more than 30 pcs on stock and I’m waiting for at least 10 more to be delivered. In order to know what I have at my disposal, I have a xls spreadsheet with stock and some features (I borrowed this system from Fiddy from Fifty shades of  snail). At the begining, I tried a lot of different sheet mask and at one moment, I realized that I do not remember what I thought of some masks. I made a system for myself with small review of each mask I tried and this with the help of the application Evernote. These reviews are not very detailed like the ones professional beauty bloggers do. They help me remember what I tried and what was my opinion about each sheet mask. This is how my Evernote beauty diary looks like.

I have few more pages like this, but this is just to show you how it looks like. Now I know for sure which sheet mask I tried, how soaked it was, what kind of material it was made of and my opinion about it.

Now that I shared with you these rather general things about the sheet masks, I will tell you in my next blog post which are my favourites.

Till then, stay beautiful and healthy!

My new arrivals: what did I buy lately?

Hello everybody!

When I started to write my little blog, I was thinking that I would post 2 times per week. But, since I work a lot, I hardly find some time to finish what I started to write. That said, I go back to the real subject of this post.

There is nothing better than arriving home and seeing that few packages arrived and wait for you to open them! This happens to me quite often, since I order a lot online, but  I’m sure that the happiness I feel when opening the packages, will never diminish.

Besides this, I find myself often being target of my older household members’  jokes, because of number of packages I receive and the fact that I order my cosmetics mostly from Asia. They find this last part hilarious 😁

So, what was the content of the boxes I received lately?

As usual, I do not have a lot of make up in my new arrivals; most of it are different skincare products.

Klairs Blue youth activating drop – the instructions said that this is used as a first step after the cleansing. I’ll try this when I finish my Tosowoong First essence Timeshift.

Petitfee Azulene soothing pads – Can’t wait to try those pads. I couldn’t find lots of reviews for this, but last few days the bloggers started to talked about them and it’s only positive for now (I see now that I forgot to take the picture).

Holika Holika aloe soothing gel

Peripera Peri’s Ink the velvet Oops fuchsia – I already have one Peripera Ink from Airy velvet line (Sold out red) and I love it!! Hope that this one will also be great.

Klairs Freshly juiced Vitamin E mask – I always wanted to try this mask, but I didn’t want to buy a full size product. I was so happy when I found these samples.

Iunik Beta glucan serum – apparently betaglucan is a good replacement for hyaluronic acid (that what I read somewhere), but it won’t dry the skin as hyaluronic acid sometimes does.

Missha bb cream trial kit – I bought 2 kits for my sister to try the shade #29. I will keep my perfect shade #27.

Urban Decay Naked 3 eye shadow palette – I always wanted to buy one of UD palettes; I chose this one after reading somewhere that this is a great choice for green-eyed girls and I’m one of them.

Aveda Be curly curl activator – I’m always looking for something which would bring back life to my curls (they are lost after an extensive period of hair-loss).

I didn’t use most of those products before, with the exception of Missha bb cream, so I’m really curious about them, especially about Klairs youth activating drop and Aveda curl activator.

As usual, I got a lot of samples with my orders from Korea.

Did you try any of the products I bought?

Till my next post, stay beautiful and healthy.

Only 10 items on my Ebay WL!! How is it possible?

Hello everybody! I hope you’re doing fine.

Today I was thinking about sharing my Ebay wish list which became rather short lately. I’m estonished how it is possible!! I remember the beginnings of my Kbeauty trip when I had the pages and pages of products on my WL. I was reading a lot of reviews, following lot of bloggers and youtube channels, I was exploring hundreds of products and as a result of all this, I wanted and needed everything. This was back in 2015 and 2016. But how time was passing, the picture became a bit clearer, as well as my cosmetic wishes. Since then, I tried lot of products, I made lot of orders, mostly on Ebay and I spent a lot of money on skincare products. I could tell you exactly how much money I am talking about since, about the same time as my Kbeauty trip began, I started to use xls spreadsheets for my orders, stocks and dates when I opened the products. However,  I will not write about the money I spent, but I will write about where I would like to spend some more money.

So, what do I have on my WL? Which are these 10 products?

And before I start, let me just reassure you that the links I posted are not the referral links  and I do not gain anything if you buy by clicking on those. How could I? 😂😂😂 (I’m only a “blogger” with 4 posts and 4 follwers).

So let’s go to my WL finally!

–  Cosmetic pots (plastic) – I’m always decanting my products, especially when I travel, so I’m always in need of small jars and bottles.

Toners

As I said in my post about toners, I always have at least 2 on my WL and for the moment, these 2 are my possible next purchases:

1) Cosmetex Roland Hyaluronic acid Astaxanthin CoQ10 anti-aging –  I like the combination of the ingredients and the fact that it is rather affordable (cca 10 USD)

2) Olivarrier Dual Moist toning lotion – I always listen what Rene a.k.a. Gothamista recommends and she mentionned Olivarrier, as one of brands she is exploring lately.

Essences and emulsions

Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence – I like propolis and I like essences, so I need to try this one

Sooreyahan Ginseng Secret Skin Care True Rejuvenating Emulsion – this is on my WL for a while now that I honestly do not remember why I put it there.

Creams and bb creams

Missha Near Skin Total Ceramide cream – I always have something with ceramides on my WL for my sisters who suffer from a mild rosacea

Lioele Super gold snail bb cream – although Missha Perfect cover bb cream in shade #27 is my perfect choice, I’m always looking for something that could replace it since this shade is sometimes hard to find, unlike lighter shades. Up till now, I didn’t find anything even close to my perfect Missha.

Masks

A by Bom Super Power Baby Ultra Cool Leaf mask – I’m a huge fan of sheet masks and accordingly, I have a huge stash of these. One of my next post will be about sheet masks for sure. This particular sheet mask drew my attention  because of the interestong shape (you put the leaves on the face).

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing mask – I’m always looking for a good clay mask and this one has the excellent reviews.

And last item on my WL are the Neogen Dermalogy Real Cica pads – this is rather new product, but I read some fine reviews. I like the products containing cica or tiger grass or centella asiatica, so this is very interesting product for me.

If you tried some of products from my WL, please do share with me your opinion.

Till next time, stay beautiful and healthy!

Empties 1

I always liked the posts about the emptied products, so I consider normal that my first post is about my empties.

Most of my empties are Asian beauty products, but I use also “western” products.

So, let’s begin!

The Body Shop Shea hand cream (travel size): I really like TBS products, especially the body butters. This hand cream is no exception to that. It sinks in fast without leaving greasy residue, provides the decent moisture and it smells quite nice.

Fascy Moisture bomb hand cream Milk: I had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately I was a little bit disapointed. Beside very cute packaging and a kind of vintage scent reminding me of Nivea cream, I didn’t feel that moisture bomb like the name of the cream says. It sinks in fast, but doesn’t provide enough moisture. Won’t repurchase.

Max Factor Voluptuous False Lash Effect mascara: this was decent mascara which was fine for my needs. It gives my lashes the volume which they are a bit missing, it is not too wet, has nice black color, but it does not smudge.

Benefit Badgal lash mascara: this was complete miss for me. I didn’t use it for a long time, it was driving me crazy because it was smudging my undereye area. I looked like panda till 10 o’clock in the morning (I usually put my make up around 8:30 am). Obviously there will be no repurchasing for me.

Alverde eye and lip biphase make up remover: another big miss for me. I was looking for a replacement for Asian makeup removers, so I bought this in DM. I was so happy when I finished it. I needed 4-5 cotton pads to remove the make up and I don’t even use the waterproof mascara. It stinged my eyes like crazy and this is a huge NO for me since I wear the contact lenses.

Alpha-H liquid gold: this was my first AHA product I tried and I really love it. I had no side effects of any kind: no redness, no flaking, no bad reaction of any kind. Applied at night, the next morning it left my skin soft and shinny, with nice texture. Depending on how lazy was, sometimes I used it as only product in my routine and sometimes I put my whole routine after waiting for at least half hour. Lately, I use it in conjunction with Mizon ph adjusting toner and they are a perfect match. I already bought the bigger bottle of Liquid gold, but it is in my stash waiting for the autumn.

It’s skin Power 10 formula LI effector: I think this was my 3rd bottle. It’s my go to serum everytime I feel my skin will react to something (overloaded routine, bad product combination or else). This licorice serum calms perfectly my skin, evens the appearence and smooths it. I have already repurchased and opened the new bottle of this.

It’s skin Power 10 formula propolis effector: I also bought few bottles of Propolis effector. Generally speaking, these It’s skin serums are excellent investment: not expensive at all and yet very effective. Propolis effector is my favourite product containing propolis. My skin is moisturized, but not greasy or sticky like with some other products with propolis. It gives my skin perfect healthy shine. Will repurchase again and again.

The Face Shop Mild cotton pads: one more product which prouves that Asian beauty brands are ahead of western ones, even with the cotton pads!!! These do not “swallow” the product. They are so soft and feel so nice on the skin. I used them both for removing make up and applying some liquid products (acid, toners,..).

This is all for my first empties! Stay beautifull and healthy!
